Finally She's Engaged!!

June 9th marked the day that my bff and I have been waiting for since we were little girls - she's engaged!!

This summer will mark the beginning of her planning process - with I as Maid of Honour for the momentous occasion!

I guess my Type A personality will come to benefit her.

Not that I haven't already immersed myself in the bridal blogosphere; I'm pre-planning my own wedding before I'm even engaged!!

Excited for her and the ride from her on out.

Naughty Girl

It's happened again.

I've abandoned my blog and have neglected it since *gasp* MAY!

As much as I would love to say that I've been on a world tour - or isolated in the rainforests looking for a plant to cure cancer, the truth of the matter is quite, uninteresting.

Tonight, although a late one, I do make a solemn vow, to blog 'til I burst!! There's so much to write about, rant about, and celebrate about!

Sex and the City 2 Movie Review

Here it goes, I'm going to put all of my thoughts, aka "all-of-my-inside-my-head dialogue" that I had throughout the movie.

I warn that this read may not be spoiler-free, so DO NOT READ on if you have NOT seen the movie and want to go in with a blind eye!

This time around, 2 years later, the girls and I reunite our silver screen/theater seat romance, and oh, did it ever 'feel so good!'

Feelings of nostalgia rushed over me as I realized that 6 years have passed since the series' end in 2004.

As the movie started, with the film-version of the Sex and the City theme song blared, you can't help but notice a recurring theme - sparkle.

All of their names, Sarah Jessica Parker, John Corbett, Kim Kattrall, for example, glistened over a diamond-esque New York City skyline; with our beloved Carrie's voice over narration. Remember, the 'voice over' really made its mark throughout the series, way before The Hills was in its infancy, or even a sparkle in Adam Divello's eye! *although honorable mention goes to the Wonder Years.

As I digress, the opening sequence reunites us with the girls in a similar fashion to how it was set up in the first movie. One by one, they appear on-screen, this time, with Carrie narrating how she met each, complete with an '80s flashback of each femme fatale, before Louboutins and Birkin Bags.

The girls are meeting up, not for a lunch, rather, at Bergdorf Goodman for the wedding registry of Stanford and Anthony!

To follow is the Big Day at a lovely Connecticut Inn - so Americana. We see Big in black tie attire, with his wife, Stanford's best man, in her own penguin suit! They have their own private prelude, and soon after head down for the ceremony.

As the gang is united (with men, babies, and 'bitch' -Samantha's dog) in tow, the scenes with the 'whole gang' had me saying to myself, "wow, they've aged." It's natural of course, and I am not criticizing, but the years couldn't be hidden under any amount of make up or lighting. Maybe it was those 2 precise factors that made it appear worse? Who knows. But it saddened me to know that this movie is the 'end' of the franchise.

Stanford (and Anthony's) wedding was an explosion of ivory, sparkle, and swans, with gay ambiance that radiated through the choir and according to Miranda, manifested 'Liza Minnelli' as officiant. Carrie Preston -as labeled on her boutonniere- stands behind her best gay friend as Anthony's younger brother Nicky, balances out the 'broom party.'

Samantha sexes Nicky. Rose screams in unison with Samantha, as John (James Preston) asks the infamous question, "I don't know which is worse..." with the answer evidently being, "...Samantha. The baby will tire eventually" Carrie's wit is unmeasurable.

Lunch the following day introduces us to Charlotte's hot, Erin-go-bra-less, nanny; and her appeal is made obvious with her very own slow-mo Baywatch run sans beach, sans bra.

The gang returns to NY and as we have been introduced to their individual conflicts, the need for a getaway becomes apparent - and comes in the form of an all-expenses-paid retreat to Abu Dhabi c/o Samantha's potential client, whom is associated with Sex Alum, Smith Jerod.

The decadence calls, the girls answer. As they leave their troubles behind, they gain an exotic oasis, a $22,000 suite, complete with personal butlers, and maybachs -at their disposal-

Carrie On 2-morrow

Tomorrow night is the BIG night...and I'm gonna be sweating down the hours before (at work) I get to the theatre! I'll be met with my BFFs Christanelle and Geralyn and of course, Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha!



I have 2 outfits chosen for the soire (Tomorrow's and Friday's) as I am watching this movie 2 days in a row! On Friday, I'll be with my BFF Melissa, my sisters and their friends as we girly-night it up in celebration of the girls' return to the silver screen!



I can't believe that 2 years has passed since the 1st, and that for more than a decade, the Fabulous 4 have entranced the world with their fashion, fun, and friendship - and fantasy, might I add.

Shoes with Wheels

Throughout the last few weeks I've been going through an emotional whirlwind, and things just haven't sat right with me. I've been ongoingly remaining in a state of unrest

and couldn't get out of it. I finally broke, and guess who was there; of course he wasn't one to judge, or criticize, and only said, "I always thought you were stronger than this, to let it get you like this...it's not you."

Other than words of support and consolation, he did something else. On one of my rollercoaster mood days, we went and got rollerblades. Who knew how freeing an experience on shoes with wheels could be after more than a decade?? We rolled around at Port Union with our little Roc-star and he watched me fall, and freak out, and scream as Rocky dragged me down a hill at full speed as he pulled like a little reindeer. I didn't mind falling. I didn't mind falling infront of all these strangers. I didn't get an anxiety attack, or freak-fest, rather, did something that I forgot to do - laugh it off.

A new summer hobby, a way to walk Rocky and have fun all at the same time. No more leisurely strolls, more like, leisurely rolls.

To him, my Rock, for always being that steady force in my life. And to his mini-me, little Rocky, for being my heartbeat at my feet; a reminder that there's always something positive, when it all seems so negative.

Up In the Air

As it stands, everything for me, in the area of 'career' is up in the air. Over the next year I just need to focus on getting this piece of paper, after which, I will take a turn at the fork-in-the-inevitable-road. Right now, I feel blessed to be working where I am. They have granted me the opportunity to work FT hours, whereby just months ago, there was no opportunity in-sight. A glimmer of hope and a dash of faith, have been added to my daily intake of life, and right now, I'm just happy to have the support of those I love.

I'm grateful for what I have. I guess I'll have to be patient and just 'wait and see' where life's gonna take me. For right now, being up in the air ain't so bad- I'm on my way to regaining access to cloud 9.

Mister Water Main: I have tickets for the TFC game on Sunday.
Jilliann: Oh yay! Can I bring Rocky?
Mister Water Main: Are you serious???
Jilliann: Oh okay. We'll have him tag along later - YAY a date!
Mister Water Main: You know, if you're not interested, I can ask my other girlfriends...I just thought I'd call you first, just in case.
Jilliann: Aww, they rejected you already didn't they.
Mister Water Main: So are we on? Okay, good.

Please Stand By

To explain my lack of posts as of late, I have been experiencing some (frustrating) technical difficulties on my laptop. I was infiltrated by a mass amount of malware (viruses, bugs etc.) through my own use of IE - after downloading the new Firefox and experiencing slow loads. So now, my current status is virus-free upon scanning, but am left with a slow, if-you-can-call-it 'functional' 3.6 browser.

Until I remedy this slow-down, and if I manage to stop myself from throwing my laptop out the window, please stand by.

Princess & the Pea.....'R'

There has been a whirlwind storm inside of my head for the past little while; thoughts, plans, processes, lists, expectations, standards, committments....and I'm testing the waters before I take the 'big plunge' either way.

An apples and oranges dilemma has me comparing two areas that in essence, end up being completely 'me.'

First off, is teaching.
I've dreamed it up, and worked with kids at every opportunity I could get. I managed a learning centre, directed a summer camp, and taught catechism and child safety courses along the way. I volunteer mentored students in the midst of one of the biggest transitions of their lives - graduating and off to high school - and have made some contacts, and much-cherished friendships along the way. I've helped build self esteems, while colouring or drawing. I've given motivation, to those who didn't feel that it was worth the effort. I've given knowledge, to kids who had a true thirst to learn, and I've been that helping hand, that congratulates and promotes 'A for Effort.' I've stood infront of countless eyes and ears and lectured on things from A to Z. I've learned alongside these children, what it means to truly listen, and how to be 'in the moment.' I've relinquished my childhood self and found the beauty in simplicity; how just stopping - even for just a moment - to stare up at the clouds and figure out if it looks more like a dog, a monster, or something else entirely. I've learned that learning doesn't stop at the door. It's something that you take home with you -everyday- for the rest of your life.

Second, comes PR.
A love of writing, and knowing how words can convey a message beyond print is something I've known since I was small. I've worked alongside CEOs from family-run start up businesses, not-for-profit organizations to big financial institutions and everything of the sort. I've dipped my feet in the niche of what PR is. It is setting a brand/image in line for its target audience. It is conveying a messsage, on behalf of your clients, and acting as the voice box and ultimate 'written word' of what said -company/item/brand- represents. It is making connections, coordinating the needs of wants of your client to ultimately serve in benefit to those whom you are looking to gain positive favor from. I've always been told -upon first meeting- whether I was in the process of/interested in entering this industry....how it's 'so me' and something that people could 'totally see me doing.' I'm a people person - I know the value of working hard, and that if anything is worth doing, you never truly 'clock-out' of your job, because it isn't that, it's a career.

So here I am. If I were writing a book report about myself, the conflict would definitely be, "Human vs. Self."

Fast-paced, on-the-go, research, data, analyze, strategize.
Not so different from teaching, after all.

If You Like It then You Should.....

If you want something, go get it. Don't let anything stand in your way. Take a leap of faith, there will always be someone to catch you when you fall. Tell someone that you love them, don't assume that they already know. Apply for that job you've always wanted; go back to school. Ask that girl out, that you see everyday at Starbucks. Try something new. Eat exotic cuisine. Take a trip around the world. Live life. Experience it, don't just let everyday come and go.....take it by the reins and decide where you want to go. In other words, "put a ring on it!"

Oasis in the City

Here is 'The Shops at Don Mills' - my escape from the concrete jungle, "in my back yard." I blogged about my enthusiasm about this place last year, but this past Monday, I took my boys there (the 2-legged & 4-legged) and strolled around the place, taking in the sunshine which we have been denied for quite some time! It's a dog-friendly place, where I can combine my love of Rocky and shopping - all while sipping my double chocolaty chip frapp from Starbucks! In the summer they place cute stainless steel doggy water bowls and also have 'doggy stations' from which you can get eco-friendly dog waste bags! (*although I bring my own - hot pink in colour - mind you.)

Frank was quick not to show his liking for this place, as I've been ranting and raving about it forever! - and by doing so, would cause me to jump up and down, teasing, "See! See!" (which I did do, in my head.) As we sat in the central piazza, as I munched away on my Hawaiian pizza, Rocky chomping at my pepperoni/bacon/sausage bits, and with a few little kids going Gaga for Rock-star, Frank's exact words were, "This place is pretty nice.... my mom would like it here ."

Post chomp-down, we walked a little more, as I continued to eye-shop, with Frank ending it off by saying, "I think we need to go shopping this summer..."
