Bit By the Wedding Bug

The past few years has, for me, been full of weddings, wedding milestone anniversaries, engagements, bridal showers, and all of the sort!

This year, unexpectedly is no exception...
I have 3 weddings in a row in September, not to mention the
accomodating bridal showers!

All this- wound up with a few engagements- has
got me BIT by the wedding bug
and I have decided
to take my
wedding blog of it's temp. hiatus.

YAY.

This Little Piggy

This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed at home,
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went...
"Wee wee wee" all the way home...

Often always, when out to eat with people, I am told that, "for a small girl, you can eat!" Which is true, I have a non-stop appetite, and do not necessarily need to be hungry in order to eat. Like I told my sister and Frank, I'm an Eater, not a Cooker. *sorry to break it to ya bebs!

But I will learn to move beyond that and learn how to make my own grub-- I can do a few things quite well- but easily burns eggs. HAHA

Anyway, onto my random post, here is my variation of the above poem (to illustrate my weekend):

This little piggy went to V
This little piggy didn't stay home..
After, this little piggy had steak, sauteed onions, mushrooms and potatoes,
while her little piggy had a poutine and banquet burger.
Then this little piggy went
vroom vroom vroom all the way home!

Bookworming

Taking a break from my earlybird bookworming (oxymoron?) at york for my first midterm exam for 2009. Without need for explanation, as per York's strike, I kept only my Educational Psychology course- one of my core-courses for my degree.

This course has rejuvenated my rad-ittude towards school (mine in particular) and I'm glad to say that I'm happy to be back.

This course is giving me a sneak-peek at what I will be studying in Teacher's College and I'm looking forward to it.

Bookworming my way to my midterm, I have T minus 135 minutes to go 'til show time!

Wish me luck!!

Pot of Gold

I'm looking forward to the Pot o' Gold
at the end of my rainbow. School is prolonged but education is, how I like to say, an investment in yourself. I can't wait to have my own chalkboards, and walls to decorate, lessons to plan, kids to teach and recesses to monitor....

Still going for GOLD.

Bittersweet Compliment

Wednesday, April 8, 2009 approx. 8:20pm
* in direct relation to THIS post.

So, I call Frank on my break, and the first thing he asks me is, "Did you put air in your tires?"
I respond: "No..."

FS: Are you kidding me? What are you waiting for, a flat tire?
JC: I don't know how to put air in my tires...I don't know how much PSI and what if I put too much air, won't it blow up?
FS: I think your head's gonna blow up! I can't believe you didn't put air in your tires, again! * followed by BLAH BLAH BLAH- or at least that's all I heard...*
JC: Well, whatever, I'll do it tonight...
FS: Yeah OK, at Midnight, you're really smart there eh?
JC: Shut up.
FS: It's okay, you're my Jessica Simpson.
*silence
JC: Wait, is that a compliment? or an insult... wait, it's an insult! You think I'm an airhead?! I am not!
FS: Sorry Miss York University, part time!
JC: Shut up.
FS: You're an airhead, sometimes...but you're beautiful. Just sometimes I wonder about you.

END RANT.

Untangling Life's Knots

My Very First Metaphor
I'm gonna write a short reflection story about my very first metaphor. I was about 6 or 7 years old, and I had tied my shoelaces incorrectly on a pair of shoes, resulting in a pretty dirty knot. It looked difficult to undo, and I thought the only solution was to cut it with scissors. My dad caught me pre-cut, and stopped me immediately.

Firstly, because I would ruin the whole shoelace for one nasty knot and second, because he wanted to help me.

Not in the way I thought, so I handed over my shoes and he said, no, you're gonna do it. I bantered,"But daddy..." He wouldn't budge.

Basically he told me this: "Follow the string and work backwards...it'll work itself out."
Then I replied,"It's too tight and I made it worse..."

Then he told me that he won't always be there to help me, and that I need to learn to figure things out for myself- no matter how hard it seems. He told me he knew that I could do it, and to bring him the shoes when I was done.

**Time Elapses: I get frustrated, but keep focus on the strings, and bit by bit, the knot started to loosen and undo itself....

I happily bring my dad the shoes and say, "Daddy Look!" and he doesn't say a word; he just smiles.

:)

To this day, I can remember countless times that I've undone knots for people; from strings, to necklaces, to plastic bag knots, I've done it all- with their amazement- without following the initial urge to cut it out.

What I realized, in reflecting on that day, is that at that very moment, my dad taught me a simple life lesson.

We'll get ourselves into situations that seem difficult to get out of, but with persistence, and determination, we can work it out.

It is safe to say that today, I am
STILL untangling
life's knots.

:)

Batista's BACK!

Results from RAW

Randy Orton began to brutalize Mr. McMahon but was interrupted by WWE Champion Triple H, Shane McMahon and the returning Batista, who will take Mr. McMahon’s place at Backlash (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In the night’s main event, Randy Orton attempted to prove his point about Mr. McMahon’s in-ring abilities. In the midst of putting a hurting on the WWE Chairman, he was interrupted by McMahon’s son, Shane, who attacked The Legend Killer. But Orton had help of his own waiting in the wings in the form of Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, who rushed to their leader’s aid, teaming up on Shane O’Mac. WWE Champion Triple H then emerged, but he too fell victim to the combined might of The Legacy.

As Orton and his cohorts pummeled The Game, they were shocked to find out there was more opposition that they hadn’t counted on: The returning Batista. The Animal stormed down the entrance ramp, evening the odds by chasing Orton & DiBiase from the ring and laying out Rhodes with a Batista Bomb. As the WWE Chairman recovered, he announced that Batista would be taking his place in the Six-Man Tag Team Match at Backlash

YAYY!! Another reason why MY MONDAYS are Marvellous!! BATISTA IS BACK!!!!

Sixty-Two Stallone?!

Can you believe this is a pic of the now 62yo Italian Stallion on the set of one of his new flicks?? The Rambo-Rocky star is looking really good for his age and quite ripped!! 20year olds everywhere must be swooning!

Gold Member

And no, I don't mean, Mike Myer's Goldmember...

I'm addressing the fact that the past summers' return to yellows/pastels has opened the door for the return of GOLD.
I love gold (yellow, not in jewellery so much) and have multiple items to bust out such as my gold-sequined shoulder bag, my gold floral wallet and a few gold-sequined tops.

Go for Gold! Here is Beyonce (who starred in Goldmember) in a gold, top-pleated, dress. Stunning!

Rockin' Ruffles

Not quite as exuberant as Rihanna's ruffled top, mine is simpler, and much more 'everyday' wear.

To dress it up, I'll wear it with a pencil skirt or trousers, and to dress it down, a pair of jeans or bermuda shorts.

Ruffles are an easy way to add that needed UMPH to a simple bottom. Think of it as the cherry on top!

:) A fan of Romeo-Juliet-esque tops, I love rockin' ruffles! Ruffles have even made their way onto my footwear! I'm eyeing the Motif Steve Madden sandals.... visuals below!

Simple Shawls

Jessica Simpson circa 2004 during Newlyweds MTV

In 2003, while working for Bedo C. Internationale, one of my few staff purchases was a similar looking white, also fringed, shawl as seen on Jessica Simpson above.

For some reason I can't let it go, and often find it a great summer accessory on those breezy summer nights, and whilst strolling on those skin-burning summer days. I often pair it with a cute li'l tank and a pair of jeans and sandals.

Whenever I open my closet and see it, I anticipate the day the weather is good enough to bring 'er out.

My closet must-have: A simple shawl; it's like a purse, I never leave home without it!
- note: I also have a 'shrug,' as pictured.

An 'US' tidbit

Frank liked me in Grade 6. I sat infront of him (in rows) and we were partnered for math-activities. I found out he liked me, and was utterly repulsed. I moved my desk forward and told him not to talk to me.

His reaction FOREVER and ALWAYS will remind me of the episode where Lisa tells Ralph that she doesn't like him.

No worries, I make up for it in grade 8 and we end up reciprocating each others' feelings...wouldn't have had it any other way :)

** A bit of back history, earlier that year I had stepped in Dog Poo and dragged it into the portable on a hot humid day without my knowledge. Frank yelled to the whole class that it was me, and I cried.

Something from Nothing

Since leaving, I felt empty without my kids, without my space, without my place. I get nostalgic whenever I drive down Progress...and I can't help but wonder if I should have stayed. But in the end, I know that I had to do what I had to do. It wasn't fair to me, and I was clearly being taken advantage of.

So, as thought of multiple times in my head, here is what I walked away with:
  1. Experience with Ontario Curriculum
  2. Dealing with parents, students and grades ( a preview of days to come)
  3. Working with students not as eager about their education as I was
  4. Managerial duties, holding the reins 24/7
  5. Working with kids of all ages
  6. Developing my creativity and educational-mindset when creating the 8-week daily summer camp programming
  7. * a pupil of my very own.

If God takes you to it, he'll get you through it.

Nick and Jessica: Together again 2

My second fave celebrity couple had to have been Nick and Jessica. Again biased, because Frank and I started dating exactly when they did, had our break up when they did, and got back together when they did.

I was also heartbroken to hear that these two split. Very much so...
Here are my fave tribute vids to the once-were Newlyweds..

  1. This I swear- THEIR WEDDING SONG
  2. Because You Loved Me- Tribute Vid
  3. Jessica Simpson- Let Him Fly
  4. Nick Lachey- I can't Hate You Anymore & That's My Resolution
ENJOY!

Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake: Together Again?

Only in my dreams.....
Hands down, if I could have any couple back together- it would definitely be Britney and Justin!

Maybe it's cause I can relate to them; they started out like Frank and I- as kids, and grew up together. Maybe I want them to experience the happiness that I am, and know that she would be in a better place with him..

Anyway, here are my fave 'Britin' Vids

  1. Justin's song for Britney: Never Again
  2. Britney's reply: Everytime
  3. *Britney reminiscing...*: Out From Under (via Circus)
  4. Apologize- Perfect video...
  5. *** BONUS: BRITNEY AND JUSTIN COLLABO!
  6. Britney and Justin- My Love

ENJOY!

*I almost cry watching these vids! HAHA

April Flurries

Err...let me check my calendar...Oh, it IS April. Looking out my window, you'd guess otherwise. Flurries falling, the wind has a chill. I guess CityTV's obituary for Old Man Winter came a bit too soon. Maybe we should have buried him with a bell, so that he could fore-warn us of his return from the dead!

Brrrrr....just when I finished packing up my winter attire. Luckily, my winter jackets/coats fall last on my list, so they're still accessible.

April Flurries bring May Flowers??

Fast & The Furious (2009) Dom & Letty

Eight years from when it all started.... The Fast & The Furious is back in overdrive! I can't believe that it's been that long since Frank and I first saw it when we were 15!!

UPDATE: FAST AND THE FURIOUS '5' IN THE WORKS!!

Frank and I equated ourselves to Domenic Toretto and Leticia *Letty Ortiz. The hottest couple before Brangelina was a twinkle in Brad's eye. Just everything about them, their characters, sums up ourselves.Dominic Toretto: It starts with the eyes. She's gotta have those kind of eyes that can look right through the bullshit, to the good in someone. 20% angel, 80% devil. Down to earth. Ain't afraid to get a little engine grease under her fingernails.
Gisele Harabo: That doesn't sound anything like me.
Dominic Toretto: It ain't.

Frank the Guns and Jill the Car-Chick.

I won't most much about the movie other than the fact that I absolutely loved it. I'm biased and am not a true movie critic- but know that it'll get torn apart by real movie critics alike. Regardless the movie was a blast, and it was good seeing the originals back in the franchise...it should have been done 2 movies ago (despite Diesel's cameo in Tokyo Drift).

In honour of The Fast and the Furious Franchise...and of course, Dom & Letty,

I give this movie a Green Light..hell, if you watch these movies, lights are irrelevent, so let's just say, put the pedal to the metal and go see it!

*just be sure to get tickets 45-1 hour before start time ;)

Late Night Rendezvous

Workking late finally paid off...

Usually, throughout the middle of the week, when I'm at Pure, I don't get a chance to talk to Frank, because:

  1. The time I'm free to talk, he isn't.
  2. When I get a chance to call, he's sleeping already
  3. By 11pm it's almost a GUARANTEE that he's in bed.

Regardless, I still leave him voicemails, which I know he'll get in the morning during the drive to work. So tonight was just like any other night.. as I finished my shift, without a phonecall from him, I assumed he was fast asleep in bed, or on his couch.

Long and behold, midway home, I get a phonecall from him-- and he's JUST GOTTEN OFF work! Unbelievable, yet believable at the same time...

Anyway, long story short, we're both tired (him utterly exhausted) & hungry, and he comes up with a brilliant idea: T-Bonez.

I say brilliant because he mentioned that he's off tmr (Friday) therefore could come by, but needs to shower, and literallly sleep, so coming over is out of the question; therefore a late night encounter, another opportunity to see each other, whilst eating, is hitting 2 birds with 1 stone!

It was a nice after-work surprise.
Too bad Rocky couldn't make it :'(

Facebook = POP Culture Phenomenon

Facebook has taken the world by storm. This is evident through Facebook's infiltration of our everyday lives, and even in comics. Here are some comical Facebook-y images I found online.

Enjoy =)
